This collaboration gave way in September of 2005 to a high top skateboard dunk that consisted of a slight tumbled black leather on the uppers and wrapped in pink suede along the mudguard and heel. Throughout the shoe features artwork by the famous graffiti artist, Futura 2000. The featured artwork shows off his popular pieces, Pointman and Atmos.
Futura was known for hitting the New York subway stations in the 70s with his artwork, then in the 80s he began to showcase his masterpieces at art galleries and shows like Fun Gallery. His artwork was unique due to his abstract and creative approach towards graffiti. It wasn't long until Futura would be sought after and commissioned to create artwork for musical artists, bands, and labels such as The Clash and Mo Wax records.
This collaboration also featured Mo Wax Records, which has their label name stamped boldly on the zoom air insoles.
Along the ankle straps features Futura's musical outfit, U.N.K.L.E. which was founded by him and Tim Goldsworthy in 1994. They were known for their collaborations with groups and artists such as Metallica and the Beastie Boys.
Prior to this release Futura also had other collaborations with Nike such as the "For the Love of Money" Dunk SB Highs. The popularity behind Futura 2000 for his famous work and previous collaboration with Nike helped fuel the hype for the U.N.K.L.E. Dunk SB Highs and has been solidified as one of the great icons in sneaker collaborations.
