Nike is killing the Dunk... Again

Bunch of shoes we have in stock. Check out the store link.
Nike is killing the Dunk… again.  I know that most of our followers are too young to remember but when I was in college there was an overproduction of the Dunk model. Pretty soon  there wasn't much  demand anymore because you could find Dunks at every shoe store in every mall. Fashion repeats itself but the death of those fashion trends come in cycles as well.

Nike has a knack for beating a dead horse. I have been a sneaker collector long enough that I am able to spot trends. I’m not always accurate (I sold a pair of Stussy Dunks for $150 2 or 3 years ago) but I am definitely still in the black. There has to be a game of supply and demand.  If 100 people want a new release then Nike should release 90.  Nike releases 3-4 “must have” pairs every week and at least one is usually a Dunk. You can do the math of how many dunks that is. Is this a Dunk bubble? The resell prices of newer releases have been trending down. If Dunks were a stock, I would be shorting it somewhere near the end of 2021. Right now the demand is still pretty high, but you can see how pairs like Veneers kind of flopped. I personally loved that release but definitely fell short if we're judging a pair on resell and hype . The over-saturation of the Dunk model is on the horizon.

PictureMy personal favorite Dunk release this year.
Dumb collabs and packs along with a large amount of general releases will ultimately kill the hype if history repeats itself. Sorry Concepts, but what the fuck is a Turdunkin? Those things are high concept (see what I did there?) with great materials, but is an overall hideous shoe.  Nike will hopefully figure it out and limit the amount of that silhouette but who know if the damage will be done? It took 12ish years for the Dunk to be cool again so lets hope Nike doesn't run them into the ground again.
