I think we can all admit that 2020 sucked. One of the only upsides was the sneaker releases. This is a list of my top 10 releases of the year. This is not a list of the shoes that I think were the best releases but of the 10 that dominated the headlines. These are the pairs that popped into my head when I think of 2020. Sad to say this but 2020 was controlled by Nike. I don't have a pair from any other brand. The eleventh best shoe release of 2020 would probably be the Yeezy foam runner but other than that I couldn't think of any other brands that released anything worth writing about. O well. 10. CHunky dunkUgly but people seem to like them. 9. Stussy SpiridonMost underrated of the year. 8. off-white jordan 5'sVirgil does the bare minimum again and succeeds. 7. Grateful Dead dunks No one that wears these have ever dropped acid at a Dead show but it's whatever. 6. union jordan 4'sEveryone hated them at first but now what? 5. Travis Scott dunkNot a Travis style fan but the materials were nice. 4. strangelove nike dunkI like these.... I guess. 3. Off- White Jordan 4Best Off White release... Jordan wise. 2. Dior Jordan 1Can you imagine spending 10k on these when they dropped? Must be nice being part of the 1%. If you ever think about buying these, let me know and I'll tell you about some stocks instead. 1. mocha jordan 1Hear me out. The Mocha 1 is a general release and was not the most expensive shoe but is definitely our most requested pair. Easily affordable so it won't break the bank yet it will probably go up in value do to its wearability. All the other shoes on this list because of their contemporary approach but you're not going to be able to wear a pair of Chunky Dunks all the time. The Mochas may become timeless.

We're back with our classic SD Bones cap. This time we are collaborating with Ebbets Field to bring you a redone version of our iconic 2014 release. Only be 20 released in blue on our 8th anniversary in January. The R Logo on the side will be a little smaller than pictured due to these being the samples. A mass release of the cap in black is scheduled to be released in the coming weeks.
Preorder for the the black SD Bones Cap is available now. Click Here. Hello everyone! You might be wondering where all our products are? Well, we made a new page for that. There is a link that says "Store" that takes you directly to a webpage we made specifically for our..wait for it... store. We had to do it to make it easier for us to keep track of our inventory. We have been growing exponentially since Covid started as weird as that sounds. We had to pivot a little so this main page will be our blog and for our customers to contact us. Click Store to shop. It's simple!
I am quickly realizing that I am too old to pull off some of the most popular shoe releases. Once upon a time I didn't care how crazy or what colors a pair of shoes came in because fuck it, I would make it work no matter what. Now I look in the mirror and ask myself, "What the hell am I thinking?". At what age should I stop falling for the hype? My favorite shoe of all time is a pair of Bred 1's. I buy a few pairs every time they rerelease. I then proceed to wear them into the ground. Nothing looks better than a beat pair of Breds... other than a fresh pair. That shoe can be dressed up or down and still look good. I thought the same thing would be okay with an Off-White Jordan 1 and I was sorely mistaken. It looked like I was trying too hard. I know I am only 2 posts in on the Rosewood Blog and I've talked shit about Off-White in both but maybe I'm just not cool enough to pull something like that off anymore. My life consists of Vans, Jordan 1's and various running shoes because I am mainly about function or comfort over flash. I wanted to voice my opinion on what pairs of shoes look best with a certain age group over this platform rather than bitching to my employees who are all 15 years younger then me. Before I start, I know there are some people that can pull off whatever look they want it will be fine. Perfect example is Pharrell. Dude was born in 1945 and looks great in all those Human Races. For the people who aren't a vampire like Pharrell here are my suggestions of shoes to wear for each age group. 16 & Under: No one cares what your wear besides the other kids in your classes so wear whatever you want and stunt on those other dweebs. What you wear now will affect your sense of style when you get older. I had to wear a uniform from Kindergarten through all of high school so shoes were the only way I could show my personal style. No wonder I ended up owning a shoe store. My suggestions is wear whatever you can get your parents to spend on you. Push their limits! 17 to 24: These are the college years. I know some of you are like "24? I'll have a job and have long graduated by then". Wrong. Some of you will party a little much or take a year off to "find yourself". Perfect shoes for these years are Air Force 1, Dunks, Vans Old Skool and Converse All-Stars if you're just your average college student. They're all relatively affordable and you can buy any color and if you beat them up they'll still look fine. If you have a little bit of money from mom and dad or you have a part time job then you can probably afford some nicer items like some Concords or some other GR's. If you're balling out this age more power to you if you can afford all the quick strikes and shit like that. I would probably wear something like the Wotherspoons or Cactus Jack 4 if I was this age and could afford anything I wanted because when you get a little older it looks weird when you wear colorful shoes. 25 to 30: This is the time to get a spending problem and get that little bit of credit card debt. At this age you're trying to set yourself apart from the rest. This is when you have to decide if you're going to go full sneakerhead. Are you going to wake up at 7 am for that release? Are you going to buy resale? Are you going to buy a bot? (eye roll, fuck you guys) I feel like this age is more about the hype and newest release than any other age group. They finally have enough money to buy what they want and they want EVERYTHING. On a Saturday morning go to Bait or Blends the day of big release and you'll see a bunch of dudes the same age dressed relatively the same waiting for their number to be called. I'd suggest any Yeezys, Off-White Collabs, Air Max 1, 90, 97 and 98's, Jordan's 1-5, 11 and most hard to find releases. Like Drake said ,"You only live once". (I know that's corny but fuck it, so is the guy that said it) ![]() 30 and Over: So this is my age group and this is when you look for pairs that look good, subdued and maybe a little classier. You're going out more. You might have a family or are planning for one. You have to wear shoes you like that are comfortable and gets the approval of your significant other if you have one. If the opposite sex doesn't approve of your shoes then why even wear them. I'd rather have a girl come tell me they like my shoes at a bar rather than a group of dudes. My personal favorites right now are Blazers, Jordan 1's, React 87's, Flyknit Racers, Sacai Waffles and Blends Vans Old Skools Comfort Cush or whatever they're called. I also really like the Gym Standard Vans that came out a year or so ago. I haven't brought myself to wear them yet but I love the look of them. If you're in this age group and you want to test yourself on what pairs you can pull off? Think of a version of you 10 years older dressed the same as you are now, wearing the shoes that you want to try out. Got it? Do they look good? If they look too old to pull it off neither can you. The generation younger than you will group you with that older group you just imagined. I am 33 years old and if I picture a 43 year old me wearing what I usually wear with a pair of say Purple Lobsters I know that looks dumb and I shouldn't wear it. Thanks future me! After your 50's wear whatever you want. You've earned it! Whenever I read sneaker reviews on websites like Hypebeast or High Snobiety they always seems to write something corny like "Look at the new grails dropping" or something very cringeworthy like that. I am here to tell you exactly what I think about each hyped up release. For my first blog post I am going to critique the Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 5 Off-White. I actually really like these but it's mainly because I ran track and cross country (shout out St. Mary's in Stockton) and my mom is a track coach. If these were around when I was in high school I would have definitely worn them to run in. The only people that can pull off wearing the Terra Kiger are runners and maybe early 2000's Andre 3000 (dude wore football pads as outerwear). Other than that do not wear these out. You will look like a joke. The only people who will think this is a good look are guys who wear the yellow caution tape belts and argue about how Revenge Storms are not rip offs on Vans. Please wear them at a track or on a trail if you do decide to buy them. If you're too lazy to work out then at least dress like you're about to work out. Put on those tights or tech fleece and act the part. Do not and I repeat DO NOT wear these with denim. DO NOT wear them to the mall. And most importantly if you are male DO NOT wear these around any women because they will clown you. If you are caught wearing them under no circumstances admit that they are women's shoes. Take that to the grave.
Follow me on instagram @DanteRowley because at some point someone will wear these into the shop and I will definitely secretly put them on my story. |
